Business Tips for the Construction Industry:

Attracting New Business.

Credibility; if you have enough of it, you'll have to turn away business. Your reputation is your credibility. The ideal situation is having new clients who will retain your services for life. One easy way to build credibility is to ask for testimonials or comments from clients and satisfied customers.

Other ways to establish credibility may include writing books and articles, acquiring endorsements and word-of-mouth marketing. Of course if you are a good speaker, your platform presence is a huge credibility-builder if you provide useable advice and guidance.

Detecting Deficiencies in Documentation .

The contractor is required to bring to the attention of the engineer any defect, deficiency, violation or unsafe condition that might be produced by his compliance with the contract documents. The contractor however is not responsible for detecting deficiencies in documentation; he is expected to review the documents and bring to the engineer’s attention what he knows.

Where there is a good working relationship between the engineer and contractor, this shouldn’t present a problem.
